Lights, Camera, IPL

Do you battle with breakouts, hyperpigmentation fine lines and/or wrinkles? Do you want smoother, more even skin tone, but fear going under the knife? Then an IPL Photofacial might be for you! This innovative Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), also known as the “photofacial” you help you say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more in a few easy and painless treatments!  The photofacial uses intense pulses of light that penetrate deep below the dermis to even out imperfections such as freckles, broken blood vessels and birthmarks. Photorejuvenation has been in practive since the 1990’s and is still among the most effective treatments that men and women of all ages can undergo to rejuvenate the skin.

IPL uses an intense pulse of light to penetrate the second layer of the skin, the dermis, targeting bacteria (helpful for acne) and pigmentation (helpful for dark spots, scarring, etc), without harming the top layer. The light is absorbed by the melanin–damaging only that specific lesion. The body then naturally removes the damaged tissue (aka your dark spots) leaving behind smoother, even skin tone. This treatment is ideal for people with large pores, blotchy or discolored skin, and especially for those on-the-go who don’t have time for a lengthy recovery.

IPL devices use multiple wavelengths of light to treat:

  • Sun-induced changes on the face, including brown pigmentation and age spots
  • Rosacea, including redness and broken blood vessels.
  • Acne

IPL can also treat the hands, chest and neck to diminish age spots or any other areas suffering from discoloration or broken blood vessels. Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara, underwent multiple treatments prior to her wedding to correct years of unprotected sun exposure. While you may experience a little bit of redness or darkening in the treated area immediately following your visit, this will diminish within a few days to a week.  After a targeted brown spot removal, there may be light flaking, which can be easily managed with moisturizer and a dab of concealer.

Unlike many laser techniques, the procedure is non ablative, meaning no skin is removed during treatment so recovery time is minimal. An IPL Photofacial is one of the safest light-based facial treatments available, and most patients experience little or no pain during the procedure. Depending on the level of correction needed, multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results. An incredible added benefit to the IPL is that while the treatment corrects leasions, it also stimulates new collagen, and over several treatments, this new collagen smooths and softens the appearance of wrinkles, pores and textural irregularities resulting in smoother, healthier skin. Many clients incorporate IPL Photofacials into their regular beauty routine for it’s corrective and enhancing properties.

Not everyone is a candidate for an IPL Photofacial. Some darker skin types are not suitable as they have too much melanin to treat safely. We cannot treat you if you’re taking medication that makes you sensitive to light, such as Accutane. The best way for you to find out if IPL is right for you is to book a consultation with one of our experienced Beautique estheticians. They will assess your skin, listen to your concerns and explain the best way to achieve your goals. If you are not a candidate for IPL, we have a variety of alternative treatments available.

With any beauty treatment plan, one size does not fit all. Call us today to book your complimentary consultation today. You will receive a skin health assessment, along with an individualized treatment plan to help you look and feel your best.

Mother’s Day is SO Much More Than A Date.

Mother’s Day was Sunday, and regardless of how you celebrated, one thing we can all agree on is that being a mom is one of the most rewarding titles you can possibly achieve in life. It’s also probably one of the hardest, most interesting, fun, and maddening things you’ll ever have to do. The highs and lows can be extreme, but the rewards that come with the smiles and laughter are unforgettable.

Motherhood can be hard, no matter how old or young your child (or children) may be, and let’s be honest- sometimes being a mom doesn’t feel like it’s enough. Whether it’s a chaotic day full of rehearsals, sports games and birthday parties or relaxed days full of sweet loving bliss a mother’s love is unique even when she isn’t always feeling it.

As mothers, we’ve all been there at some point. Waking up in the morning with a child yelling at you and grabbing for your attention. You manage to throw water onto your face (most likely without soap), brush your teeth, and looking yourself in the mirror. Taking a deep breath,  you sigh. You look tired and you feel less glamorous than you did the day before. It’s not an easy job, but someone has to do it.

Finding time to feel beautiful when you have kids can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. Taking out time for yourself and giving your body time to reset and give yourself the self-care you need is actually a very healthy thing, not selfish like most moms think.

Start simple, incorporate a beauty routine into your schedule. Even if you’re a stay-at-home mom and don’t really have to leave the house for work treat yourself right and put a little pep into your step with your favorite lipstick or mascara. It doesn’t have to be a crazy makeup routine but something to give you a little pop of color would be a nice enhancement.

If you have to pick one time of day to really get in there to make some “mommy time” then make sure to pick the evening. An evening skincare routine will change your life and not to mention the way you look! Once the kids are in bed, your prep-ahead beauty routine begins. Invest in a good face wash and follow up with a good toner. A good toner will help minimize pores, soften the skin, and ensure the skincare products will fully absorb. Next, apply an anti-aging serum. There a lot of different skin care serums that help with a variety of issues, depending on your concern and needs. For everyday use, we recommend a serum that reduces fine lines and helps even-out skin tone. Finally, follow it up with a moisturizer to lock in all those nutrients. If you follow a similar beauty regimen every night—and ideally every morning, you’ll start to see a definite change in your complexion within a couple weeks.

It’s ok to give yourself a break from the most important job in your life. Trust me, your kids will thank you for it in the long run.

Moms really do need a community for support and that is what we want for Beautique Medical Spa, to provide a community for hard-working moms everywhere.  Whatever you need we are here or you.  In the meantime please watch the video below…just make sure you have a nice box of tissue nearby and along with your phone, because you’re gonna want to call your mom.

Drop The Razor…Start Thinking Laser!

It’s time to break up with your razor and have some “Fun in the Sun” without suffering barbaric hair removal torture methods such as waxing, depilatory creams, and threading!

For us living in South Texas, outdoor activities come early. I’ll admit we have had some incredibly beautiful weather, but for the most part we can enjoy our pools and South Padre Island already. So, with Summer just around the corner we want to know, have you “Marie Kondoed” your closet yet? You know, evaluated your shorts, sundresses and bathing suits? And with more skin on display as the temperatures heat up, it’s time to also evaluate those daily tasks that don’t bring you joy…like shaving.

Whether at the beach or a pool, most hot RGV Summer days are spent at outside with your loved ones, do you really have time for barbaric shaving methods? It’s no secret, practically everyone has heard about Laser Hair Removal. What I find surprising, is that so many people have still not experienced the wonder of not shaving again for themselves. I’m not sure if it’s because they haven’t gotten around to it or have fallen for one of the common misconceptions circling around. One thing is for sure, our savvy Beautique Medical Spa clients get Laser Hair Removal with us. In fact, that is one of the reasons Beautique was born. My daughters wanted Laser Hair Removal, and at the time nobody really offered Laser Hair Removal in the Valley. A few machines later we are STILL the leaders in Laser Hair Removal since 2002.

When we first started, there wasn’t a lot on the market to choose from, as the years have passed, it was very important to us that we could serve the vast majority of the Valley’s population because we have such diverse skin types here in the Valley. Very early on most machines were IPL and could only treat lighter skin types. Another HUGE problem with IPL was that handpieces had to change, and only had a certain amount of “shots” available, and when you would get a new handpiece the treatment changed. … oh, my goodness it was such a pain, and speaking of pain…it hurt! But, most women, my daughters included, stuck out the pain because they didn’t want to shave anymore.

Fast forward a few years and TONS of research we have two different machines we use for laser hair removal. Both can be used on all skin colors (remember, that was one of the most important requirements for us). One can actually treat grey and red hair with our proprietary protocol (most machines are unable to treat red and grey because there is not enough melanin). We have treated thousands of clients with hair removal. In fact, we started our Hair Free Club which allows our clients to come in regularly for hair removal and as a result can be hair free from Head to toe… and we mean head to toe 😉

One of the main reasons we recommend laser hair removal is because shaving can be very irritating to your skin (you know, South Padre Salt Water and shaving do not mix) and shaving only lasts for a couple days (for some only hours), so it is uncomfortable for many women (and men) that have to shave daily. Oh, and don’t even get me started on those ugly little prickly pimples left behind when you shave. Plucking and waxing may last longer, however, they still can irritate and can be quite painful as well, OUCH!

You may be surprised though that for many women laser hair removal is one of the services that can return a woman’s confidence unlike anything else we’ve seen. Women are supposed to have soft, silky, hair-free skin and when a woman or young girl has excessive hair growth on her face that can be detrimental to her mental well-being, and in some cases can lead to bullying in school or can make a person be passed over during a job interview / promotion. There is a medical condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) that affects 1 out of 10 women in this country. A hugely visible side effect is excessive hair growth on the face (an arms in some cases). Imagine not being bullied anymore or landing that job, closing that sale because confidence has been restored. The psychological and physical heaviness of PCOS is bad enough, there is no reason a woman should have to deal with depilatories that can cause rashes and hypopigmentation or have to just face the world with excessive hair on their upper lip, sideburns, and chin.

If you or someone you know suffers from excessive facial hair or wants to just throw away that razor for good, I recommend you find a facility that has extensive training in the art of hair removal. These machines are VERY expensive and require a lot of training to be able to find the best settings for each client to provide the best results, so buyer beware of deals that seem too good to be true…. our experience is that they usually are.

Next week we’ll talk about how hair grows and the optimal time you should get hair removal. That’s a little sneak peek.

Botox….Not just for Women

“Bro-tox” – noun. The definition of bro-tox is the act of a man getting injections to reduce the effects of aging. An example of bro-tox is what some male Hollywood actors get before awards season to minimize wrinkles.

Women are not the only ones obsessed with looking younger. Many men nowadays, also want to hold onto their youth. Just like women, men often want to look their best. Besides, why should women get all the fun? It’s a well known fact that BOTOX® is the only FDA approved product on the market to help relax your muscles, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. So it’s no secret that men are getting more Botox now than ever before. In fact, Botox Services has increased in men by 337% since 2000! Men are becoming increasingly aware of their skin. Whether it’s finding a good skincare routine, working out at the gym or prepping their meal plans–men are consciously (and subconsciously) making it a point to take care of themselves. Mentally, physically and spiritually men are more aware and in tune with their well-being.

However, there is an anatomical difference to facial features when it comes to men and women getting BOTOX®. The main difference is that female eyebrows are naturally arched, while those belonging to men are horizontal. The best use of Botox on male faces is to soften the deep creases that form between the brows, forehead, and crow’s feet that can make a man look unintentionally sad and angry. Because men are bigger and stronger it usually takes a little more BOTOX® to do the job for men because they tend to have more muscle mass (naturally) than women. Of course, you will want to talk to a doctor first, but the suggestion is that the first time you go in for a treatment, you want to discuss your lifestyle with your injector, and ask for optimal correction so that you are pleased with your results. And remember, the key to success is consistency.

Main Reasons Men Are Considering “Bro-tox” at Beautique:

  • Restores Youthfulness: Women aren’t the only ones who feel pressure to look younger — men face the same challenge. More and more men are concerned about how the effects of aging affect their lives. Like women, men worry that crow’s feet and frown lines will have an impact on their overall looks. This happens outside of Hollywood as well. Just think, men that are in sales or in the public eye need to look professional and youthful to help close the sale or get the promotion they want.
  • Combats Excessive Sweating: Medically known as hyperhidrosis, this condition causes a person to sweat when there isn’t need to, such as sweating to regulate body temperature and avoid overheating. Those who are afflicted with hyperhidrosis sweat when there isn’t a need for temperature regulation. Extreme perspiration can be embarrassing. The FDA approved the use of BOTOX® as a way to treat severe hyperhidrosis in 2004. BOTOX® turns off the chemical that turns on the sweat glands. Brotox can be injected into the underarms, forehead, back of the neck and even the hands and feet to block the discharge of sweat. Remember the last time you shook a hand that was sweaty and clammy? Ugh, now Botox can help with that so that our men can perform confidently at work. And just think how much you’ll save in dry cleaning bills!

If you’re looking for effective, safe results, trust the leaders and only Platinum Plus Partner of BOTOX® in McAllen, TX. As someone who gets a few treatments done himself, Dr. Sanchez is relatable to men and can help ease any concerns they may have. Watch below as Bryan gets Botox for the first time at Beautique.

Can You Guess These 5 Non-Wrinkle Uses For Botox?

Each year, researchers find more and more uses for BOTOX® in treating various medical conditions. While it’s more common use treats fine lines and wrinkles, doctors are discovering it’s power in treating migraines, depression, muscle spasms, hyperhidrosis and even gummy smiles. Some are considered “off label” practices, similar to how an anti-seizure medication can also be used to treat anxiety. Before considering any off-label use, consult with a physician who has experience and knowledge in that drug’s off-label uses. This brings us back to Botox and it’s many common off-label uses throughout the medical and cosmetic field.

Top 5 Off-Label Uses For Botox Cosmetic

  1. MIGRAINES. BOTOX® became FDA approved for the treatment of migraines in 2002 and is the most common injectable to alleviate intense migraine pain. In just a single treatment, patients experience a great reduction of their migraine symptoms. Common symptoms associated with migraines are intense throbbing pain, sensitivity to light & sound, and nausea. If you experience these symptoms or are currently taking an anti-migraine medicine, Botox may be an alternative.
  1. DEPRESSION. While not officially approved, doctors are discovering that BOTOX® can be a truly effective method for managing major depression. The proposed mechanism is based on what’s called the facial feedback hypothesis. This holds that a person’s facial expressions can influence their mood. Studies are being held to see how true this holds up, but in the meantime it’s worth an injection or two.
  2. MUSCLE SPASMS. FDA approved in 2002, BOTOX® treats spasms of the eyelids, face, neck, shoulders, and upper body. Surprisingly, facial spasms are quite a common issue, experienced as uncontrolled twitching in the muscles around the eyes and/or excessive blinking. Treatment prevents the release of chemical transmitters that activate the muscle with results can lasting up to three months.
  1. HYPERHIDROSIS. Clinically proven and FDA approved since 2002, Botox treats the symptoms of hyperhidrosis. Once injected, Botox reduces sweating in key areas of the hands, feet, underarms, face, and scalp, as well as other areas of the body. BOTOX® works by temporarily blocking the release of a chemical that is responsible for activating sweat glands. Typically, results are noticeable within 2 to 4 days, with the full effect experienced within 2 weeks. Dryness lasts 4 to 12 months, but studies have found it can last as long as 14 months.
  2. GUMMY SMILE. Sometimes smiling shows more than just our pearly whites. Too much gum above the teeth can make them appear smaller and undesirable by many. Using BOTOX® on the upper lip weakens the muscle, which in turn won’t let it rise as high. A great surgery alternative!

Advancements in Botox

BOTOX® continues to be best-known for its ability to diminish facial wrinkles and reduce facial creases. Whether used for medical treatments or aesthetic purposes, it is a powerful product trusted worldwide and produces great results. If you are interested in using Botox to treat any of these above conditions, schedule a consultation to speak with Dr. Sanchez of Beautique Medical Spa. As the only Platinum Plus Botox Partner in the Rio Grande Valley for excellence, you can trust we have the experience and knowledge in all things Botox.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Pumpkins aren’t just beneficial for your taste buds…they are REALLY good for your Skin too. Apart from being the most popular latte at Starbucks and of course carved out lanterns for Halloween, it’s pumpkin season 🎃 and we couldn’t be more excited! The smell, taste and decor of pumpkin is literally everywhere! But besides tasting delicious and smelling wonderful; did you know that pumpkin is a great antioxidant for your skin. In fact, pumpkin has over 100 nutrients in it that can help restore and heal your skin!

Did you know that pumpkin is such a powerful source of antioxidants that it:

  • Boosts your collagen
  • Brightens your skin
  • Increases cell turnover
  • Reduces pore size
  • Smooths out the texture

It’s true! And with the fall season already upon us the weather is becoming a bit chilly. Okay, so not so chilly in deep South Texas, but we will start to notice a drop in temperature soon, and our skin does change with the seasons. As we start to get drier weather you may notice that your skin may start to feel a bit on the dry side, but you can give your skin a treat and refresh its natural glow by using one of the most popular fruit  of the season (…thanks StarBucks ☕️).

Have you ever wondered what makes pumpkin pie so orange? It is the miracle antioxidant, beta-carotene, that converts to Vitamin A which plays a gigantic role in your having good health and great skin.

The beta-carotene in the pumpkin is what gives it that red-orange color which makes it look so nice in the fall. But besides enhancing color, beta-carotene is also a natural enzyme. The powerful anti-oxidant pack a double punch because it helps to boost your immune system when consumed internally, but also reduces oxygen damage to cells brought on by free radicals and other toxins, which helps boost collagen production and reduces signs of aging.

Pumpkin is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover- shedding away dead skin cells- which in turn brighten and smooth the skin. Vitamin A and Vitamin C are also found in pumpkin, and these nutrients will help soften rough skin texture, soothe the skin, and brighten the skin giving it that natural glow we all desire.

The zinc found in pumpkin can naturally protect your skin from the ultra violet rays (UVA’s),  reduce your pore size and help make your skin look more refined.  Zinc regulates excessive sebum, an oil production which helps to reduce acne in the skin.

Ok, so maybe a pumpkin spice latte from your favorite coffee shop won’t renew and refresh your skin, but a pumpkin facial can. Revive your dry summer skin with our fall facial to help tighten and firm your skin. Show off a more rejuvenated and brighter skin as well as renew your naturalr glow for the season. Those with sensitive skin will be able to tolerate a pumpkin peel because it is not too intrusive. Clarity and skin smoothness will be seen immediately following a pumpkin facial.  Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits are also seen through a pumpkin facial. This treatment includes a fall skin analysis, pumpkin antioxidant facial,  skin nourishing booster, and a LED anti-aging light treatment.

Infrared LED light therapy can reverse and control the visible signs of aging and help you look years younger without invasive surgical procedures. Tightening of the skin, smoothing out wrinkles and rough spots, minimize the disappearance of blemishes, softening of redness, and shrinking of pore size can be achieved with this natural light treatment.

Adding an LED treatment to this pumpkin facial will help you acheive younger looking and smoother more rejuvenated  skin. Better than any pumpkin spiced latte! Ok, maybe not, but then afterwards you can treat yourself to a latte on us!

To get perfectly glowing skin this month check out this powerful facial we curated for the season.

Modern Dermal Fillers

Fillers used for correcting facial imperfections have been around since the late 1800’s. Augmenting the face with different mediums such as body fat, paraffin wax, petroleum jelly, silicone, and animal collagen have all been experimented with, yet produced unfavorable long-term results. Development of conditions like granuloma (a mass of granular tissue) from these mediums pushed researchers to look for safer, more effective alternatives.

Today we have the safest, longest lasting, synthetic fillers available like Juvéderm (hyaluronic acid). Whats more, the type of filler is not the only part of the process that has improved. In the past doctors have looked at loss of volume and wrinkles in isolation – targeting the area alone and many times producing unwanted results like puffiness, bull-dog jowls, and too much volume, making the face look disproportionate. New techniques like anatomic filling have proved to be much more effective.

What is anatomic filling?

Let’s take the example of sagging skin around the mouth and jowls. Looking at the facial structure and understanding where the skin began to lose its elasticity then targeting those areas. By using a filler like Juvéderm Voluma (a gel filler formulated for deep injection and volume) to fill in the cheeks, the skin is then lifted up, diminishing the laugh lines and tightening the skin around the mouth and chin. Kind of like a face-lift. The patient now has a more youthful look while also correcting the issues around the mouth and jowls. This technique can be applied to other areas of the face in a similar manor.

Where else can I use filler?

Fillers are now also designed for different areas of the face with different effects. Special formulations allow your doctor to treat fine lines, deep lines, loss of volume, thin lips, and even eye troughs, eliminating sunken dark eye circles!

The JUVÉDERM family of dermal fillers has you covered and Beautique Medical Spa is highly trained and experienced to administer them. With the most advanced technology and modern formulations, your aesthetic goals are more achievable than ever.

The most important step in the journey to utilizing fillers to treat aging and sagging facial skin is to find a highly trained and knowledgeable doctor. 10 Important Facts About Collagen

10 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Collagen…the Glue that Holds Your Body Together and How the More Collagen You Have, The Younger You Look!

We hear about collagen all the time, from supplements to anti-aging. There are very good reasons why collagen is important to our bodies and vital to our beauty. Collagen is essentially the glue that holds our bodies together. It gives our ligaments movement, our skin strength, and protects our organs. To help our clients understand how our body’s natural glue works, we have created a list of fun and interesting facts about collagen and why it is so amazing.

10 Things About Collagen You Probably Didn’t Know

  1. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein produced in our bodies. It is found in our skin, bones, muscles, and more. Collagen can be derived from animals but for cosmetic use a safer synthetic collagen is used. Our bodies accept this synthetic collagen very well.
  2. Collagen makes up 1/3 of our bodies and a whopping 70% of our skin cells. Moisturize!
  3. The skins elasticity and strength are attributed to collagen. This is because collagen is essentially the “scaffolding” that holds all of our skin’s layers together.
  4. Cell turnover can stimulate collagen production. Cell turnover happens when the skin is damaged or irritated and it wants to heal itself. It does this by shedding dead skin cells quicker and replacing it with new skin cells. Collagen is an important part of this process. That is why treatments like facials and light therapy stimulate collagen production and newer smoother skin.
  5. Collagen fibrils are stronger than steel! A collagen fibril is small slender fiber and collagen bundles up in these fibrils to create structure and aid the elastin. Gram for gram, collagen fibrils are stronger than steel.
  6. Collagen is often used in dressing severe wounds or burns as it speeds up the healing process. Since collagen and healing cells go hand-in-hand, collagen aids in the process of skin renewal.
  7. Natural collagen production decreases with age as well as other factors like sun exposure and smoking.
  8. Hormonal changes can affect collagen production. Especially as we age during menopause.
  9. High sugar consumption can weaken collagen and make it brittle. Refined sugars increase bursts of inflammation in the body. Inflamed tissue produces an enzyme that actually breaks down collagen resulting in sagging skin.
  10. Degeneration of collagen within the body or slowed collagen production can pose health risks such as bleeding gums and joint pain. Since collagen is basically the main building block of our skin, muscles, and bones, all these parts of the body can degenerate. Also, being that just about 2/3 of our skin is made of collagen, losing it can negatively affect our appearance with wrinkling skin, dull/ thin hair, and cellulite.

As shown here, young skin layers are very structured, firm, and smooth. As we age, and the collagen breaks down in the dermis, while the epidermis begins to sink and lose shape.  We also see a significant reduction in Hyaluronic acid (essential for retaining moisture) and elastin, which gives our skin the flexible strength it needs.

Internally, Collagen can be taken as a supplement. Collagen supplements have many health benefits like strengthening hair and nails, cardiovascular health, and reducing joint pain. However, for issues like wrinkles, loss of skin volume, and cellulite, there are better solutions available.

How to stimulate collagen production so you can look like a Hollywood Screen star!

  • Make sure and feed your body essential nutrients like vitamin C and antioxidants.
  • Eat healthy proteins and omega-3 rich foods like grass-fed beef, seafood, eggs, and beans
  • Get your beauty rest! Like seriously at least 8 hours a night
  • Exercise! Especially HGH (Human Growth Hormone) producing exercises like strength and resistance training. This hormone stimulates collagen.
  • Get monthly anti-aging IPL, and weekly/bi-weekly LED light therapy to actively stimulate collagen production
  • Laser skin treatments/Chemical Peels
  • Facials like Microdermabrasion
  • Thermage RF Therapy and 3 DEEP Radio Frequency Treatments
  • Dermal fillers made of Hyaluronic Acid or Synthetic Collagen
  • Get hormonal testing so that you can treat imbalances if any
  • If you smoke, stop! For more reasons than one
  • Avoid overexposure to the sun and wear a good quality SPF

We know, it’s a lot of information to take in. Collagen is what holds our bodies together and is key to many benefits including health and beauty. Did any of these facts surprise you? Let us know! Because we are an anti-aging clinic, Beautique Medical Spa specializes in services specifically designed to increase collagen production.

Success with Kybella

We have talked about Kybella a few times on our blogs and clearly it is one of our favorite treatments! The science, benefits, and results are enough to create a believer but what about post procedure? What about before? Did you know that you can pair more than one procedure? Sometimes, with everything available out there, a treatment plan for your aesthetic goals can be a little overwhelming. Here, we offer some recommendations on maximizing the success of your Kybella treatment as well as how to combine  Kybella with other services for superior results.

Kybella treatments are non-invasive and have little to zero downtime. We recommend the following steps in order to keep it that way.

 Before your procedure

  • To minimize bruising or bleeding, eliminate the use of Aspirin, Ibeuprophen, Ginko Biloba, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin E and other fatty acids for about a week prior to treatment.
  • Consult with your doctor about medications you are taking.
  • Avoid high sodium foods, sugary foods, alcohol, caffeine or any other substance that may induce swelling.
  • Get your treatment 2-3 weeks before any major events as swelling may take a bit to subside completely.

After your procedure

  • Do not massage or rub the treatment area
  • Ice is your best friend! Ice the area in 20-30-minute intervals for about 24 hours
  • If possible sleep on your back for 3-5 days
  • Avoid excessive sun and heat exposure for 3-5 days

Talk to us about the following treatments to maximize your Kybella results!

Detox Facial – Kybella destroys fat cells and they then exit the body through the lymphatic system. Three to four weeks post treatment, we highly recommend a lymphatic facial massage. The “Detox Facial” offered by Beautique stimulates lymphatic drainage and detoxing. This relaxing and contouring facial can help speed up the Kybella process as well as give your face a beautiful glow AND release endorphins. Yes! We enjoy this facial so much that we blogged about. Check it out in the archives here: BLOG Archives: Lymphatic Facial Massage

Thermage – Whenever a portion of fat is removed from the body, the skin has to bounce back. Depending on factors such as age, skin elasticity, and collagen quality, our skin may not always bounce back the way we want it to. Sometimes, submental fullness is caused by excess skin itself. If Kybella rids your neck of fat but you still have excess skin, we recommend adding Thermage to tighten the area and stimulate collagen production. Thermage uses radio frequencies to stimulate collagen and shrink back the skin We recommend Thermage first so that you can get Kybella right away, but if you receive Kybella first then you would need to wait a couple of weeks before getting Thermage. We have written about this dynamic duo before! Destroy the fat and tighten up that skin with Kybella + Thermage – you can read more here BLOG Archives: The Dynamic Duo Kybella + Thermage

Ultra Slim or 3Deep – If you have excessive amount of fat under your chin, you can combine fat eliminating treatments if they are done in the correct way. For example, treat with Ultra Slim (light therapy fat destroyer) and then, after sufficient time, use Kybella to spot treat, or vise versa. Your beauty expert at Beautique can come up with the right plan for you in order to meet all of your goals. As you have probably guessed, we have blogged about UltraSlim too! Read more about it here: BLOG Archives: UltraSlim – Shed up to 2 Inches in an Hour!

Kybella’s success rate and efficiency in treating submental fat, make it one of the most valuable and successful treatments out there. If you have additional questions feel free to contact the spa. We’ve got answers! Contact Us
