How to Prolong Your Botox Treatment with this Simple “Make Botox Last” Guide

When it comes to improving moderate to severe lines, BOTOX® Cosmetic is considered the gold standard, and is in fact the #1 choice by most doctors to treat wrinkles, which is why over Seven Million Botox Procedures are performed each year. So, we know that Botox is used in cosmetic anti-aging clinics, but how does Botox work to diminish the appearance of wrinkles? It works beneath the skin’s surface by targeting underlying muscle activity. Think of it like this. As we move the muscles in our face, over time these muscles get stronger and create wrinkles and lines. Botox is a nuero-toxin which is injected into strategic areas to relax the muscle movement which as a result reduces the signs of aging and the appearance of wrinkles that cause those  unwanted & unnecessary lines, around your eyes (crow’s feet), between your brows (glabella aka “the elevens”), and forehead.
With millions of treatments performed yearly why are so many people still confused about the benefits in using this product? It’s because there is so much misinformation out there. We’ve all seen (and laughed) at the memes and gifs surrounding Botox. This confusion is real among the public, so real in fact, that our previous post is called “Don’t Let These 5 Myths About Botox Prevent You From Owning Your Look This Year” where we list and discuss the top five most common Myths we address on a daily basis.
Here’s the truth, Botox is a fantastic alternative to invasive, more permanent cosmetic procedures such as a facelift. Because it’s quick, painless, and seldom causes side effects, you get real, noticeable results when using Botox. While it can take up to 14 days to settle, you’ll most likely begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours of getting Botox depending on the severity of your wrinkles. The best part? Typical Botox results last up to four months!
Botox doesn’t discriminate….it works great on everyone! It’s safe for most people, especially those who want to get rid dynamic wrinkles (these are wrinkles that are visible when talking and making gestures). We always recommend to start Botox on our  younger clients (18-35) because their wrinkles are more dynamic. While Botox is recommended for people between the ages of 18 and 70 that is a wide age range, but as we mentioned, we really like clients to start early as prevention before their wrinkles become static (wrinkles/lines that are visible when the face is resting) as those types of lines and wrinkles require either more Botox or combination therapies.

So, what are the basic DO’S & DON’TS when it comes to getting Botox?

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

DO: Choose the right doctor. If you pick an injector who’s inexperienced at administering Botox Cosmetic, your Botox results aren’t going to last as long as they should
DO: Avoid the sun. You’ll want to avoid sun exposure on the day of your Botox treatment. Why? Because sun exposure boosts blood circulation, causing blood vessels to dilate, potentially shortening your Botox results faster than normal. So, make sure to wear a sunscreen with an SPF 30+
DO: Exercise your muscles. A few days after treatment. Go ahead and make weird faces, consult with your doctor but it’s recommended to do post exercises to help the Botox to settle
DO: Get Botox treatments regularly. If you have Botox sessions at regular intervals, then your muscles will become weaker over time. This means that Botox’s effects will last longer

WHAT NOT TO DO:

DON’T: Take any kind of aspirin and/or anti-inflammatory medications and supplements. These include: products that contain aspirin, ibuprofen, and vitamin E.Doing so could significantly increase the chance of bruising following treatment, because these medicines are considered to be blood thinners
DON’T: Drink alcohol. Avoid alcohol the day before and the day of treatment to help minimize any bruising.
DON’T: Massage or manipulate the area that was injected IMMEDIATELY after treatment.  This is crucial in allowing your Botox to settle and do its proper work and give you the best results.

It’s no wonder why over 11 million people get Botox on a daily basis. Botox works wonders. So, what are you waiting for? Schedule your appointment today and take advantage of Beautique’s March Mania Botox event going on March 28th!
