Transforming Skin & Lives One Session at a Time

Transforming Skin

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Whatever Grandmother came up with that saying was wise beyond her years. Okay, so I don’t know who came up with that saying, but I love to imagine it was a wise Granny.

Whether you get monthly facials and anti-aging services or not, starting smart skin care in your 20s is something that your 50-year-old self will thank you for. “But what if I’m already in my 50s, can I still have skin I love?” you may ask…Absolutely! One of our game-changing procedures for not only prevention, but correction as well, is Microneedling and Microneedling with PRP.

Microneedling might sound intimidating. Anyone saying “no thanks” to the word needle? Many have that same initial reaction, but the truth is that Microneedling is one of the best treatments you can get. Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars by stimulating existing collagen and elastin.

Common Questions About Microneedling:

How Microneedling Works.

Your body treats a small wound the same way as a large wound, and sends fibroblasts to create more collagen in the affected area We are basically tricking your skin into thinking it has been wounded, but as a result, we’re thickening the skin and improving the texture with this procedure. The treatment can also help reduce pore size and heal acne scars.

We know that rolling a bunch of little needles across your face sounds crazy and even a bit barbaric, but it works. We promise. This is why. By rolling the teeny tiny needles across your skin, we are opening little channels in the skin which allow your growth factors and serums to penetrate and actually transform the skin the way they are intended to.  Of course, the caveat is always, do this under the experienced hand of a trained professional. If not, you could really damage your skin and cause more sensitivity and in some cases scarring. The exact opposite of what you are trying to do.  Listen, we are all about saving money and DIY projects, but when it comes to our skin… that is a hard pass. Your face is definitely not where you should be scrimping, saving, or experimenting on.

Is Microneedling really effective?

Microneedling is generally a safe and effective procedure that can improve the appearance of the skin. It may reduce wrinkles, diminish scarring, and tighten or rejuvenate loose or aging skin. Depending on the type of stretch mark, we often use this treatment to minimize stretch marks.

How often should you get Microneedling treatments?

The frequency of your treatments will depend on the type of your concerns and results you’re looking to achieve along with your skin’s sensitivity. This is why we can’t stress enough the importance of getting your Microneedling treatments with a professional. While it may be tempting to buy into the “Do it at Home” devices, these can lead to keloiding (scarring) or can spread bacteria on acneic skin and cause further infections. Remember, with most treatments, a series will always give you best results. The way collagen induction works is by creating tiny, controlled wounds, which causes the skin to “heal” by producing collagen. It takes about 4-6 months to fully see the results of collagen stimulation. This is how our body’s natural collagen and healing process works. So by treating the skin in a series or sessions under a controlled period of time, we will be able to accelerate the results. We can also take your Microneedling to the next level with PRP.

Who should not get a Microneedling treatment?

A true professional will tell you not to have a  Microneedling treatment if you’re currently experiencing an acne breakout. It’s also not recommended if you have rosacea or eczema, as the procedure can worsen your symptoms. At Beautique Medical Spa you will have a thorough Perfect Complexion Analysis which will help your skin expert determine if you are a candidate for this treatment and create a very customized treatment plan for you.

What could go wrong?

As with any procedure, Microneedling can have potential complications including bleeding, bruising, infection, scarring, and pigmentation. This is why we do not recommend doing this at home, unless you are under the care and direction of an expert.

What are the post-treatment instructions?

We recommend avoiding any anti-inflammatory medications for one week after the procedure. No ice on your face and avoid using arnica or bromelain. Avoid sun, tanning and exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks. All of our patients get a very complete Pre and Post Treatment Instructions along with the personal cell phone numbers of our doctor and nurse practitioner.

After your Microneedling treatment, you will need to be on skin repairing products. We will recommend what is appropriate for your skin. One of the best super hydrators you can use is Dermal Repair Cream $162 by Senté Labs. Formulated with Heparan Sulfate Analog (HSA), SENTÉ® Dermal Repair Cream absorbs quickly and goes beyond surface hydration to restore the skin’s natural ability to renew itself.
