How does the Fraxel Dual Work? Two Wavelengths…One Beautiful Result.
This safe, non-invasive procedure reveals the healthy skin of your “younger days” with results that you can see and feel. Beautique Medical Spa is the only practice in the McAllen area that offers the latest FRAXEL DUAL 1550/1927. This laser features two lasers with different wavelengths in one device: one wavelength targets pigment and sun damage while the other wavelength goes deeper to target wrinkles, texture, and acne scarring. Dr. Sanchez selected this laser because we know that as Latinos, we love to enjoy the all the outdoor activities that our beloved Rio Grande Valley has to offer, which also means we tend to get sunspots.
The Fraxel Dual allows our skin experts to target this sun-damaged or aging skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep layers of the skin to accelerate your body’s remodeling of collagen. And the best part is since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. This means we are able to resurface your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.
Various ways to use the Fraxel/Dual:
Fraxel is Effective for both men and women for the following conditions:
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles- like crow’s feet and brow lines
- Surface Scarring- helping to erase effects of acne and other scarring
- Pigmentation-diminishing the appearance of age spots
- Sun Damage- helping improve the appearance of sun damaged skin

In addition to treating the face, we also use the Fraxel/Dual to address the neck, chest, hands, legs…. pretty much anywhere. After a series of treatments, Fraxel can make the skin softer, smoother, more supple, youthful, and glowing. This laser is safe for all skin tones, however, it’s not recommended for people with melasma, a complex form of hyperpigmentation. Like with any treatment, it is imperative that you follow your providers recommendations because they can anticipate how your skin will react on any program they have you on.
How to Prepare for a Fraxel/Dual Laser Treatment:
At Beautique, every client has a Perfect Complexion Analysis featuring our Visia. This allows our skin experts to really get to see the skin and its degrees of sun damage and wrinkles so that they can create your perfect protocol. To properly prepare for your Fraxel treatment you want to make sure that you don’t have any active acne breakouts, open wounds, or infections. You will need to stop using any products with retinoids for at least one week before your Fraxel treatment. The treatment takes about an hour and a half to two hours. The first 45 minutes will be spent numbing. Fraxel isn’t as painful as CO2 lasers, you will most likely feel the sensation of “prickling”, but you will be heavily numbed, so you shouldn’t feel too much. We are always able to help you subside any discomfort you may have…. all you have to do is communicate clearly with us. Plan on having 3-5 days downtime afterwards, so we like to do schedule all of our Fraxel treatments for Wednesday so that clients have the entire weekend to relax and recover. It allows them for a big Monday Reveal.
How many Sessions are needed?
It depends. I know clients hate that answer, but just think, how can we give you a cookie – cutter answer when you are an original? There are no two “yous”. So, we follow guidelines. If we are treating pigment you will most likely see results in one to two sessions. Wrinkles and acne scarring need at least three to five sessions spaced out four weeks apart. For photo damage we will space out your sessions six to eight weeks apart. It is crucial to commit to the plan by booking your appointments ahead of time and following the skincare regimen or else you will not be as satisfied with your results. You are spending good money and need to have the results you want. Speaking of money, Fraxel/Dual treatments cost about $1500 per treatment from the face and go up or down depending on the area. We always give special pricing when we bundle areas together, and purchasing a series is ALWAYS going to be your best option.
How long do the results last?
Results vary from person to person, but on average last about a year. Variables such as hair and eye color and complexion play a part on the result length, as well as, your use of SPF, lifestyle and how committed to skincare and other services you are.
