Here’s Your Miracle Skin Perfector

And no, we don’t say that lightly! This safe and highly effective treatment is also one of the most sought after in the world and it’s no wonder.

Microdermabrasion is loved for its comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation. Non-surgical, non-invasive and highly effective, it’s also quick to give you results.

After just one treatment it’s easy to see and feel the difference. And here’s why: Microdermabrasion works from the inside out.

The lymphatic system, your body’s trashcan, doesn’t get dumped much. That means you see “problems” like:

  • Dull skin
  • Uneven, rough, sun-damaged skin
  • Age spots
  • Clogged pores
  • Blemishes

And that’s only mentioning a few! We’re sure you could add more.

Does SO Much More than Just Polish Skin

Microdermabrasion stimulates your lymphatic system to carry away toxins that cause those wretched problems. Plus, it stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. The result really is more than skin deep.

This quick, painless procedure gently sweeps away crow’s feet and upper lip wrinkles, reducing their appearance to a mere whisper.

And those large pores on your chin that look like orange peel? A few microdermabrasion sessions and you’ll forget they ever bothered you.

Imagine the thrill of looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing your face look years younger! Or, imagine how great it would feel to not have to worry about your wrinkles, laugh lines and crow’s feet again.

Well it’s all possible. In fact, Dr. Sanchez’s team at Beautique Medical Spa has helped people just like you restore and rejuvenate their skin on and around their face—many of whom didn’t think anything would help.

Now you can have tighter, smoother and younger-looking skin at any age. Smooth, flawless skin is literally a lunchtime appointment away. Get your heaping helping of perfect skin today!

How to Tell if You Have Dry or Dehydrated Skin

Do you know how to tell if your skin is Dry or Dehydrated?  Many people don’t know how to tell the difference and as a result end up using the wrong product or getting services that may actually do more harm than good.

Fact: Many skin problems are consequences of the wrong choice of skin care products with relation to the misdiagnosis of the skin condition…

Tightness, discomfort and itching … The symptoms of dry and dehydrated skin can be very similar. Thus, many people having dehydrated skin believe they have dry skin and will opt for greasier products thinking their symptoms will be relieved … But often, the skin problems will worsen and new symptoms may appear.

How to determine if you have dry or dehydrated skin? Take the test right now!

If you notice that at a certain time of the day you are getting a shine on the nose, forehead or chin: you have a dehydrated skin!

DEHYDRATED SKIN

Dehydrated skin lacks water but is still able to produce sebum. Dehydrated skin has a lack of molecules that capture and hold water on the skin surface and inside the skin cells. Seeing that the skin should protect us, it automatically compensates for this lack of molecules holding water by producing more sebum. It is for this reason that dehydrated skin can feel and show symptoms of dry skin (tightness, discomfort etc.) as well as the symptoms of oily skin (shiny areas, pustules, blackheads etc.). The appearance of large pores and accumulated dead cells can be seen on certain areas.

WHAT TO DO? The goal is not to add more oil, but instead, compensate for this lack of molecules holding water. Dehydrated skin needs to restore this water level from the deep and superficial layers of the skin and from within the cells.

WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD BE USED? You want to choose products that contain hyaluronic acid. Some of our favorite products are Nelly Du Vuyst® Hydrocell Plus Cream is composed of hyaluronic acid and Fucogel; two hydrocaptors that retain and prevent water evaporation. The Matrixyl Synthe’6 found in the Nelly DuVuyst® Hydrocell Plus Cream stimulates, up to 174%, the natural production of hyaluronic acid to gently restore the water reserves in the dermis. The Matrixyl Synthe’6 also promotes a good circulation of water from the deeper layers to the superficial layers of the skin.

Tip: Do not forget to drink water! Without water, you will never restore the hydration of your skin!

DRY SKIN

Dry skin, also referred to as “alipidic skin” is a skin that is missing oily compounds (lipids). The sebaceous glands of dry skin do not produce enough sebum. The water is no longer retained and evaporates, hence, causing a dryness of the skin.

Due to the fact that the follicles are not dilated, the pores appear visually smaller. The skin appears rough and dull looking. This lack of glow is caused by opaque dead cells that accumulate on the surface of the skin that do not reflect light. Due to this dehydration, the appearance of wrinkles on the skin are intensified.

WHAT TO DO? Exfoliate! The goal is to eliminate the dead cells that accumulated on the surface with products and services. We love Nelly De Vuyst® 3 Minute Gommage and our DNA HyroLipid Scrub. After exfoliation it is necessary to compensate for this lack of sebum by applying oily compounds (lipid) that will restore the skin’s protective barrier and maintain the proper skin hydration using water captor compounds.

WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD BE USED? You want products that are rich in lipids and fatty acids such as Nelly Du Vuyst® Dry Skin Cream Containing Natural Moisturizing Factors this product helps rebuild the protective lipidic barrier of the skin preventing water evaporation. It restructures the lipid cement between cells and restores the water reserves in the skin. The skin appears softer, smoother and generally more comfortable. The wrinkles caused dehydration disappear. Take it One Step further by adding Nelly Du Vuyst® Cellular Matrix Oil for greater lipidic richness and for extra comfort.

Ideal services we recommend are Microdermabrasion, Silk Peels, and our Age Defying Facial that combines mechanical and physical exfoliation to help prepare your skin for these products.  By taking care of your skin at home you will be able to enjoy a balanced skin which in turn will provide you with an amazing glow.

ARE YOU CAUSING YOUR SKIN MORE HARM THAN GOOD?

Do’s & Don’t of Exfoliation.  Let’s Find out the Facts.

The other day, while on vacation, I decided to treat myself to a facial at a high end resort.  I was actually feeling a little smug because I knew that my skin would be better than most since I own a medical spa. Well, before I keep tooting my own horn, I need to make a confession. Prior to my vacation, I was so busy getting ready to “Relax” that I neglected my skin care routine at home.  I was basically just washing my face and falling into bed at night. I stopped exfoliating, and really caring for my skin.

Fast forward to my relaxing Facial treat and I was appalled as the esthetician told me I needed to exfoliate and that I had a bunch of blackheads on my nose! Let me just tell you, that brought my “relaxation” to a screeching halt! It made me think, are we making sure that our clients know the importance of exfoliation?

What exactly is EXFOLIATION?

EXFOLIATION helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, keeping it fresh and healthy looking. Radiant skin requires exfoliation. The body naturally exfoliates through the process of desquamation or cell turn over. A new skin cell is born in the deepest layer of the epidermis and during its lifespan, migrates to the upper most layer of the skin. By the time it arrives at the top, the skin cell is basically dead and when the younger, perkier cells come up from below, the older cells are given the boot. The entire cycle, from birth to slough, takes about 28 days, depending on your age.

This brings another important factor. The rate of cell turn over slows as we age. This is a factor causing our skin to look flaky and dull.  Dead skin cells that tend to linger are trouble makers that cause pigmentation, inconsistencies, dull completion, block and irritated pores that can become unsightly blemishes, It is especially a problem for acne skin. Acne and oily skin are already dealing with a skin turnover process that is a little slower than ideal, disproportional shedding; meaning the skin has even more dead skin cells to fend off.

To regain the same shine and youthful appearance, exfoliation is a mandatory regime. If it is done on regular basis, it will improve the skin renewal process and minimize the bad effects of sun rays, dirt and dead cells on the skin.

3 TYPES OF EXFOLIATION

  • MANUAL EXFOLIATION– This method depends on scrubbing and rubbing to remove dead skin cells. Scrubbing granules can cause irritation, redness or slight wounds on the face.
  • Ingredients such as, crushed irregular shaped oyster shells, seeds, apricot pits, or any inexpensive or exotic “natural” or “unnatural” material suiting a product line. In extreme over use with abrasive scrubs the jagged granules can cause microscopic lacerations on the surface, sometimes leading to a tough feel as your body forms microscopic calluses against the constant abrasion. Manual exfoliators are not for severe acne, fragile skin, broken capillaries called telangiectasis (tel-an-gi-ec-ta-sis), or any skin type and condition that can’t tolerate pressure or friction.
  • CHEMICAL- This type of exfoliation loosens  the bonds that hold dead skin cells on the skins surface with AHA, Retinoids. There are many types that vary from progressive to deep working within the epidermis, these chemical peels fall within the aesthetic range.  Proper protocol and guidelines are required. An professional understanding of each skin type and knowledge of the potential of each ingredient is a must.  Therefore, it is crucial to follow your skin care professional’s advice. ONLY allow an experienced professional to perform chemical peels in a trusted environment.
  • ENZYMES are proteins that are vegetable, fruit, dairy or plant-derived to digest dead cells, giving skin a smoother, more polished appearance. Think of them like little “Pacmans” chomping up dead skin. Enzymes are designed to be used weekly as part of your at home care routine. They provide a light exfoliation and good maintenance between professional visits.

So now that you know exactly what Exfoliation is, and the top 3 ways to properly and gently exfoliate your skin you can show off beautiful skin.

I am happy to report that after the esthetican performed extractions, I was able to relax for the remainder of the facial. And, like a child reprimanded by a teacher, I have made sure to be extra vigiliant about using my enzymes at home for weekly exfoliation and then work with my regular esthetician to schedule chemical peels as needed, and other services to make sure that I keep breakouts at a minimum and will only receive rave compliments whenever I go back to a resort for a facial.

Summer Skin Care Tips

Apply sunscreen religiously. It’s a surefire way of protecting your skin. Always apply sunscreen 20 minutes prior to allow time for the product to absorb into the skin; re-apply every few hours or as needed. Look for sunscreens that offer protection for both UVA and UVB rays – keep in mind that a high SPF number is no longer enough.

Moisturize with SPF. Applying moisturizer with SPF is essential regardless of the season. With the onset of warmer weather, however, consider switching your current moisturizer for another with higher SPF and lighter formulation to prevent sun spots, freckles, and early signs of aging.

… and just moisturize, period. Summer sun – in combination with the heat, humidity, and air conditioning – will wreak havoc on your skin. Moisturize with SPF before sun, and use a richer lotion after sun, after bath, and before bed to keep skin hydrated, soft, and smooth.

Don’t skimp on eye creams and lip protection. Sun exposure will gradually thin skin and cause wrinkles. Protect the delicate areas of your face with appropriate creams and balms. Continue to use an eye cream, but if your usual cream feels too heavy for summer, replace your current product with a lighter formulation or use only at night.

Protect your hands and feet too. Your neck, chest, and hands are an instant giveaway to your true age. After moisturizing your face with an Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 30, bring it down to your neck as well. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your chest area as it is one of the areas of your body more susceptible to sunburn. Invest in a hand cream that offers SPF protection, and apply it at least 20 minutes before driving – keep in mind that two-thirds of all sun damage is purely incidental.

Also, with summer comes open-toed shoes and sandals, so be sure to exfoliate, moisturize, and protect exposed feet as well. Take into account that sunscreen will rub off faster than it would from the rest of your body from rubbing against the straps of your shoes and abrasive sand. Thus, it is recommended to re-apply more frequently to prevent burnt feet.

Keep hydrated. Drink water throughout the day. If you’re on the go, try bringing a bottle and a container of fresh fruit on the go to prevent dehydration and heat stroke.

Exfoliate. Depending on your skin type, exfoliate either 1-2 times a week if you’re dry and 2-3 times a week if you’re oily to help shed dead skin buildup and slough off previous sun damage. Doing so helps rejuvenate skin, leaving it soft and brighter.

In addition to following these tips below, dress to protect. Lightweight, cotton cover-ups along with a cap or broad-brimmed hat will act as shields from harmful UV rays.

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR LOOK WITH JUST 1 WINK!
Brighten up your look in just 8 minutes with the new Circulalift Eye Patches! Because dark circles and puffiness are a primary concern regarding the eye area, the Nelly De Vuyst Research & Development team has developed a “Signature” treatment which smoothes and refreshes the eye contour instantly. The synergy of its decongesting and stimulating active ingredients rebalances and energizes the microcirculation of the eye area. As the circulatory system is reinforced this provides a dual action effect to visibly reduce puffiness and dark circles. Discover the new Circulift Eye Patches from Nelly De Vuyst for guaranteed results!

ANTI-PUFFINESS & ANTI-DARK
CIRCLES ACTION

Thanks to the combination of three active ingredients; Esculin, Ginkgo Biloba extract and Black Elderflower, the Circulalift Eye Contour Patches refresh your look in record time!

Known as a powerful Circulatory tonic, the Esculin extract from Horse Chestnut works in synergy with Ginkgo Biloba to boost microcirculation of the eye contour thus preventing local accumulations of stagnant blood while draining excess fluid.

As potent Vasoprotective agents, the three active ingredients found in the Circulalift patches strengthen and protect circulatory capillaries to avoid local leakage of blood and lymph under the eyes thus diminishing the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.

These exclusive antioxidant actives lighten the color of dark circles by blocking the oxidation of hemoglobin accumulated around the eyes which usually takes a bluish tint when present.

Results: The dark circles fade and disappear gradually. The eye is decongested and puffiness is diminished.

IMMEDIATE LIFTING EFFECT
Enriched with a complex of moisturizers found in the extract of Black Elderflower, this eye treatment will fill in wrinkles and fine dehydration lines while stimulating the natural production of hyaluronic acid to provide an immediate in depth lifting and smoothing effect.

Results: Signs of fatigue are dissipated and the skin is restructured. Bright and refreshed, the look is completely transformed.

EASY, PRACTICAL, REUSABLE
Practical and reusable, the infused Circulalift patches are very easily applied below the eyes on skin that has been cleaned using a Nelly De Vuyst cleaner. Leave the patches on for 5 to 8 minutes then, remove the patches and reseal them in the package. Once opened, store in a refrigerator for 5 to 7 day maximum.

You want to enhance the decongestioning activity?
To improve efficiency and provide a feeling of freshness, Circulalift patches can be placed in the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to usage.

You have wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes?
To amplify the lifting and anti-aging effects: after using the Circulalift patches, apply the Nelly De Vuyst Cellular Matrix Serum directly on wrinkles and finish with the Eye Contour Lifecell Cream.

You have brown or pigmentated dark circles?
To reduce the appearance of dark circles: after using the Circulalift patches, use the Nelly De Vuyst Radiance Cream on pigmented areas of the eye contour.

Skin Care of the Future

At Beautique Medical Spa, we are proud to offer our clients the very latest in anti-aging technology. Our non-surgical aesthetic procedures, blended with a wonderful rejuvenating spa experience, have made us McAllen’s premier medical spa. Two of our most popular treatments are the VI PEEL and Fountain of Youth Facial, which provide skin rejuvenation in very different ways.

VI PEEL

VI PEEL, an amazing skin rejuvenation treatment used by Hollywood stars like Demi Moore and Sharon Stone to keep their beautiful, youthful glow.

Chemical peels can be uncomfortable, irritating, and the skin often looks worse before it looks better. The VI PEEL has quickly become popular because of its ingredients. It contains a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. The peel provides dramatic results with virtually no pain, no skin preparation, and little downtime.

The VI PEEL provides amazing results by—
~  Improving skin tone, texture, and clarity;
~  Reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles and hyper-pigmentation;
~  Softening lines and wrinkles;
~  Stimulating the production of collagen and elastin for firmer skin; and

Fountain of Youth—DNA CryoStem Cell Therapy

DNA CryoStem™ Skin Therapy System is a revolutionary breakthrough in skin science. The innovative technology of Stem Cell Skin Therapy is synergistically blended with organic vitamins, minerals, essential fats, enzymes, and natural antioxidants to repair free-radical damage, create a moisture-rich environment, promote collagen synthesis, and encourage the production of elastin. Through topical application of this unique cryogenic and bio-active skin stem cell serum, communication of biologically flawless information is introduced to aged and damaged skin. Because existing skin will replicate the condition of the applied new cells, it will also be just as flawless. This biological reprogramming creates the perfect environment for future generations of fresh, younger skin. The skin looks younger because, technically, it is younger.

CryoStem™ Skin Therapy System consists of 100% organic, chemical and preservative free ingredients and formulations. It benefits a broad range of skin conditions of the face and body:
~  Fine lines and wrinkles
~  Skin laxity
~  Oily and dry skin
~  Redness and blotching
~  Acne and acne scars
~  Scars and stretch marks
~  Rosacea
~  Abrasions
~  Aged Décolleté
~  Sun damage
~  Skin Discoloration

How It Works
CryoStem Cell Therapy serums encompass every element of skin—collagen, hyaluronic acid, elastin, DNA, RNA(i), fibroblasts, lipids, vitamins, anti-oxidants and embryonic bovine stem cells. By providing the building blocks of skin, CryoStem serums maximize the body’s natural process of skin cell renewal. After approximately six topical DNA treatments, the stem cells will have communicated biologically flawless DNA information to the cells. This reprogramming process impacts six generations of skin and influences the 90% of the skin below the surface layer.

Treatments
CryoStem technology is perfect treatment following aesthetic services such as acid peels, facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or extractions. It offers two formulations to treat common skin problems:

CryoStem Cell Therapy H—Treats mature, dry, dehydrated, environmentally-stressed, prematurely aged, photo-damaged (sunburned) skin, stretch marks and scars. Effects are immediately visible leaving the skin hydrated, supple, lustrous, and with a more youthful, and radiant glow.

~  Cryostem Cell Therapy F—Treats skin that has lost its laxity due to photo damage and premature aging. It is effective for balancing oily and combination skin types, acne prone skin conditions and skin composed of enlarged pores, uneven texture and scars. Toning, firming and lifting effects are felt and visibly seen within seconds of application.

Plasma Therapy

Discover the Benefits of Plasma Therapy in Skin Rejuvenation

It has been called the “Vampire Facelift,” because the procedure involves injecting blood into the skin. This might sound like a macabre storyline from a horror novel, but in actuality, this is the latest in anti-aging skin rejuvenation. The technology is called RegenPlasma, and it uses a high-concentration of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to promote skin health by stimulating the underlying structural integrity of the skin. Plasma is widely used in the medical field for its restorative properties, particularly in surgery and wound care. Now those same restorative properties are being used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and restore health and vitality to the skin.

How Does RegenPlasma Work?
Plasma contains life-giving fundamental protein growth factors designed to restore and strengthen the body. RegenPlasma is a regenerative medicine that works aesthetically when a concentration of cells is injected into the skin. The cells work with the body to naturally promote new tissue and collagen growth. Preparation is quick and completed in the physician’s office. A blood sample is extracted and placed in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma from the red blood cells. After the centrifugation is complete, the plasma is combined with calcium chloride and injected into the skin. The treatment lasts 30-45 minutes depending on the areas being treated.

When Will I See Results?
After the treatment patients notice a softening of fine lines and deeper wrinkled areas, such as nasolabial folds, look plumper and smoother. However, the main goal of RegenPlasma is the development of long-term collagen formation in the dermis. Plumping of treated skin may be slowly absorbed by the dermis creating a platform for stronger skin.

Overall, results will vary depending on the patient’s health, age, and genetic make-up. Most patients enjoy noticeable improvement in skin condition, texture, and tone within three weeks. Subtle improvements can continue for up to a year.

What Areas Can Be Treated with RegenPlasma?
PRP is derived from a patient’s own cells and contains no synthetic products, so it can treat virtually any area of the body including face, neck, chest, hands, scars, etc. The blood is safely and quickly prepared in the physician’s office and delivered to the skin within the same treatment session.

Are There Any Side Effects?
The procedure is less painful and causes less bruising than other dermal fillers, and because the cells are taken exclusively from the patient, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction. Nevertheless, you should let your physician know of any medications you are currently taking.

How Do I Take Care of My Skin After the Treatments?
To get the most out of your RegenPlasma treatments, you should eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, drink lots of water, and follow up your treatments with facial care products recommended by your esthetician.

FAST FACTS: LED Light Therapy

What is LED light therapy and how does it work?

LED light therapy is a non-invasive light therapy procedure that delivers low-level pulses of light up to three times brighter than the sun to activate skin cells. It works like photosynthesis for the skin, converting light energy already found in skin cells to promote healing and anti-aging effects.

What skin conditions does it treat?

Stimulating the body’s tissues to convert light energy into cellular energy can treat many skin problems including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Acne
  • Scars
  • Cellulite
  • Stretch marks

What are LED treatments like?

LED treatments are safe, natural, and pain free. Before each treatment, skin is cleansed to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup. The client then lies under the light panels for about 20 minutes. The lights emit a gentle, relaxing warmth. Many clients even fall asleep during the process.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the client’s needs. Some may only require a few treatments, while those with more chronic conditions affecting the deeper tissue layers may require more sessions.

How effective is LED light therapy?

Many anti-aging and skin rejuvenation treatments involve invasive, painful, and often expensive means of correction, which can prove ineffective. Light therapy treats the skin from the inside out. Instead of just treating external skin damage, it works at the cellular level to promote healing before it is evident on our faces. Clients are seeing amazing results, particularly those with acne.

Is light therapy right for me?

Light therapy is safe and effective on all skin types. It is the most effective, non-invasive skin rejuvenator, and it’s proven results make it an affordable solution for clearer, younger looking skin. It also significantly enhances the results of chemical peels, cellulite regimens and photofacials.
