LOVE YOUR SKIN A LATTE…

Pumpkins aren’t just beneficial for your taste buds…they are REALLY good for your Skin too. Apart from being the most popular latte at Starbucks and of course carved out lanterns for Halloween, it’s pumpkin season 🎃 and we couldn’t be more excited! The smell, taste and decor of pumpkin is literally everywhere! But besides tasting delicious and smelling wonderful; did you know that pumpkin is a great antioxidant for your skin. In fact, pumpkin has over 100 nutrients in it that can help restore and heal your skin!

PUMPKIN 411: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PUMPKIN SKIN BENEFITS

Did you know that pumpkin is such a powerful source of antioxidants that it:

  • Boosts your collagen
  • Brightens your skin
  • Increases cell turnover
  • Reduces pore size
  • Smooths out the texture

It’s true! And with the fall season already upon us the weather is becoming a bit chilly. Okay, so not so chilly in deep South Texas, but we will start to notice a drop in temperature soon, and our skin does change with the seasons. As we start to get drier weather you may notice that your skin may start to feel a bit on the dry side, but you can give your skin a treat and refresh its natural glow by using one of the most popular fruit  of the season (…thanks StarBucks ☕️).

SO WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE BENEFITS OF PUMPKIN:

Have you ever wondered what makes pumpkin pie so orange? It is the miracle antioxidant, beta-carotene, that converts to Vitamin A which plays a gigantic role in your having good health and great skin.

The beta-carotene in the pumpkin is what gives it that red-orange color which makes it look so nice in the fall. But besides enhancing color, beta-carotene is also a natural enzyme. The powerful anti-oxidant pack a double punch because it helps to boost your immune system when consumed internally, but also reduces oxygen damage to cells brought on by free radicals and other toxins, which helps boost collagen production and reduces signs of aging.

Pumpkin is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover- shedding away dead skin cells- which in turn brighten and smooth the skin. Vitamin A and Vitamin C are also found in pumpkin, and these nutrients will help soften rough skin texture, soothe the skin, and brighten the skin giving it that natural glow we all desire.

The zinc found in pumpkin can naturally protect your skin from the ultra violet rays (UVA’s),  reduce your pore size and help make your skin look more refined.  Zinc regulates excessive sebum, an oil production which helps to reduce acne in the skin.

TREAT YOUR SKIN WITH A (PUMPKIN SPICE) LATTE FACIAL:

Ok, so maybe a pumpkin spice latte from your favorite coffee shop won’t renew and refresh your skin, but a pumpkin facial can. Revive your dry summer skin with our fall facial to help tighten and firm your skin. Show off a more rejuvenated and brighter skin as well as renew your naturalr glow for the season. Those with sensitive skin will be able to tolerate a pumpkin peel because it is not too intrusive. Clarity and skin smoothness will be seen immediately following a pumpkin facial.  Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits are also seen through a pumpkin facial. This treatment includes a fall skin analysis, pumpkin antioxidant facial,  skin nourishing booster, and a LED anti-aging light treatment.

Infrared LED light therapy can reverse and control the visible signs of aging and help you look years younger without invasive surgical procedures. Tightening of the skin, smoothing out wrinkles and rough spots, minimize the disappearance of blemishes, softening of redness, and shrinking of pore size can be achieved with this natural light treatment.

Adding an LED treatment to this pumpkin facial will help you acheive younger looking and smoother more rejuvenated  skin. Better than any pumpkin spiced latte! Ok, maybe not, but then afterwards you can treat yourself to a latte on us!

To get perfectly glowing skin this month check out this powerful facial we curated for the season.

Modern Dermal Fillers

Fillers used for correcting facial imperfections have been around since the late 1800’s. Augmenting the face with different mediums such as body fat, paraffin wax, petroleum jelly, silicone, and animal collagen have all been experimented with, yet produced unfavorable long-term results. Development of conditions like granuloma (a mass of granular tissue) from these mediums pushed researchers to look for safer, more effective alternatives.

Today we have the safest, longest lasting, synthetic fillers available like Juvéderm (hyaluronic acid). Whats more, the type of filler is not the only part of the process that has improved. In the past doctors have looked at loss of volume and wrinkles in isolation – targeting the area alone and many times producing unwanted results like puffiness, bull-dog jowls, and too much volume, making the face look disproportionate. New techniques like anatomic filling have proved to be much more effective.

What is anatomic filling?

Let’s take the example of sagging skin around the mouth and jowls. Looking at the facial structure and understanding where the skin began to lose its elasticity then targeting those areas. By using a filler like Juvéderm Voluma (a gel filler formulated for deep injection and volume) to fill in the cheeks, the skin is then lifted up, diminishing the laugh lines and tightening the skin around the mouth and chin. Kind of like a face-lift. The patient now has a more youthful look while also correcting the issues around the mouth and jowls. This technique can be applied to other areas of the face in a similar manor.

Where else can I use filler?

Fillers are now also designed for different areas of the face with different effects. Special formulations allow your doctor to treat fine lines, deep lines, loss of volume, thin lips, and even eye troughs, eliminating sunken dark eye circles!

The JUVÉDERM family of dermal fillers has you covered and Beautique Medical Spa is highly trained and experienced to administer them. With the most advanced technology and modern formulations, your aesthetic goals are more achievable than ever.

The Real-Life Eraser Tool

You know that magical little eraser tool in our beauty photo apps? The one that makes those annoying imperfections on our face disappear? What if we told you there was a real life version? Well, great news, Juvéderm XC is like a real-life eraser tool, magically eliminating lines and wrinkles! Juvéderm, and the Juvéderm family of dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. This substance is a vital lubricant and moisturizer used by the body to cushion joints and aid in healing tissues. Each filler in the Juvéderm family is formulated with Vycross cross-linking technology which effects particle sizing and consistency. Each filler is designed to target different issues of the skin. They can be used separately, focusing on specific areas of the face, or in combination with each other for more complex issues.

What is Juvéderm XC?

Juvéderm XC is a smooth consistency gel filler that works best for laugh lines, fine lines, and nasolabial folds. Other hyaluronic acid fillers available on the market are more of a granular consistency which can produce puffier and less natural results. Juvéderm gives instant, natural results that can last up to one year.

What is Juvéderm Voluma?

Juvéderm Voluma is formulated to be injected deep into the skin below the muscle. It’s best for adding volume to sunken cheeks and sagging skin. Voluma can also be used to lift cheeks in order to pull skin back and lessen the appearance of loose skin lower on the face sort of like a faux face lift. In combination with Juvéderm XC, you can target all areas around the nose and mouth while giving your cheeks a youthful plump. Voluma last up to 2 years and produces instant results.

What is Juvéderm Vollure?

Juvéderm Vollure is much like its parent filler Juvéderm XC. It can be used for the same issues but for a slightly softer look. Vollure also lasts a little longer than Juvéderm XC at about 18 months. Juvéderm Vollure produces softer, less dramatic, and more natural results.

What is Juvéderm Volbella?

Juvéderm Volbella is specially designed for delicate lip areas and finer lines. Volbella consists of smaller particle sizes with lower molecular weight ratio. This means that Juvéderm Volbella can easily be used in very small areas like above the lips, in the lips, and under the eyes along the trough. The effect is plumper lips without looking overly full, the elimination of fine lines without puffing, and a solution for hollow, saggy looking eyes. Volbella lasts for about a year and can be administered every month for touch ups as needed.

Evolution of Beauty: Dermal Fillers

Looking to quickly reduce lines and wrinkles? Add volume? Eliminate sagging skin? A dermal filler is the best bet for fast and effective results. There are a few options out there and a short history of mediums used. Present day fillers are safe, non-invasive, and designed to target specific areas and problems.

Where did this technology come from? At the turn of the 19th century physicians were using fat transplants from other areas of the body (like arms) to fill facial defects. Over the next few decades, other fillers like silicone and animal collagen were experimented with as well as uses for fillers other than just defects. Fast forward another 50 years and we have the start of modern injectable fillers and the successful use of Hyaluronic Acid. Here at Beautique we utilize various forms of Hyaluronic Acid such as Juvederm®, Volbella®, and Voluma®. Dermal fillers have revolutionized the plastic surgery industry. No longer do you have to consider an invasive operation to look younger. Results are also instant and continue to look better over time. The best part? Minimal down time. You don’t have to hide out in your house for weeks waiting for your face to heal. Amazing right?

Injection fillers are not just for a pouty pucker. The Juvederm® family of dermal fillers features injectable gel filler and is available in different thicknesses for different needs like wrinkles and lines. Volbella®, caters to the lips while Voluma® treats sagging skin and sunken cheeks. As we age, the molecular structure of our skin begins to break down. The video below shows exactly how it all works.

If you haven’t considered a dermal filler option before, now is the time to book a consultation or contact us. We are more than happy to answer any questions or address concerns you may have. We are also excited for our Fall Filler Mania promotion coming up this month! Look amazing for all of your upcoming family holiday gatherings!
